Originally from Minnesota, Weston Snowboards Co-Owner Mason Davey fell in love with snowboarding at age 13 when his father brought him along on a work trip to Vail, Colorado. Determined to carve his own path, in 2003 he moved to the Vail Valley with a duffle bag of clothes, a snowboard, and $200 in his pocket and has immersed himself in snowboarding ever since.
In 2013 Mason brought his desire for snowboarding into the Weston Snowboard shop located in Minturn, Colorado. Initially hired on for “part time shop help” his ambition and dedication quickly turned into management position. When the founder of Weston decided to move his family to California it was a natural progression for Mason and his partner Leo Tsuo to take over the reins and purchase Weston Snowboards.
When asked what sets the Weston brand apart from the rest, Mason emphasizes the company’s commitment to the backcountry and community. Each winter Weston Snowboards offers free avalanche awareness classes to anyone who wants to learn more about backcountry skills. “We creates snowboards that are made to get riders into, and especially out of, some of the most difficult terrain in the world while providing the knowledge to stay safe” states Mason.
Mason and his dog Bella call Minturn home and can be seen throughout the High Rockies enjoying what it has to offers throughout all the seasons.
