Year You Were Born: 1986

Hometown: Atlanta, GA

Year You Moved to the Mountains: 2004

Current Mountain: Crested Butte

What Inspired You to Move to the Mountains: I had never seen a ski hill before I turned 18. I went to Colorado College because the tennis team liked to party. When I moved to the Springs I got two gifts from the pow gods. First, my uncle won a Pilsner Urquel snowboard as a door prize at a dive bar back in Atlanta. Then a buddy on the cross country team, who looked kind of like me, got a girlfriend who hated skiing. Board, check, pass, check. 5 years worth of weekend warrioring off I-70 later, I moved to Salt Lake. Ski bumming ever since.

What Do You Do For Work: I'm lucky to have a premier ski bum job. I bartend at a fancy restaurant in CB, Marchitellis. Show up at 4, in bed before midnight, at the trailhead at 7, quick nap before work, stacking cash.

Advice to Help Someone Make the Leap to Live Their Life: Get your Bacon, Spade, and Long Pole. Read "Staying Alive in Avalanche Terrain" by Bruce Tremper, read the avy report every morning, practice with your rescue gear, think about avalanches every day.

What Board(s) You Ride: Big Chief Split
